GOHMERT EXPLAINS WHY COMEY HAD TO NOTIFY CONGRESS

slick-willie-loretta-lynch-toon-branco

Rep. Louie Gohmert provides another reason FBI Director James Comey notified Congress that he was reopening the Crooked Hillary investigation. That reason had less to do with conscience and more to do with concern about perjuring himself in Congressional testimony addressing Comey’s previous decision not to recommend prosecution.

GOHMERT EXPLAINS WHY COMEY HAD TO NOTIFY CONGRESS

Also reveals only way Hillary will ‘answer for some of the things she’s done’

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas

While many Democrats publicly fume at FBI Director James Comey and many Republicans sense political opportunity, a member of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee tells WND and Radio America the letter was really Comey’s way of avoiding a perjury investigation against him in Congress.

On Friday, Comey sent a letter to several committee and subcommittee chairman and ranking members, informing them that new emails “pertinent to the investigation” had been discovered. Twice in the three-paragraph letter, Comey noted his duty to keep Congress up to speed on the case.

“Although the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work, I believe it is important to update your Committees about our efforts in light of my previous testimony,” Comey stated.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said this really boils down to Comey keeping his sworn promise to lawmakers given during testimony in the wake of the FBI refusing to recommend charges against Hillary Clinton.

“It is actually the director of the FBI avoiding lying to Congress. He said he would update us,” Gohmert told WND and Radio America. “I think at the time he said it, he probably did not anticipate that there was going to be any other developments sufficient to get him to pursue the case further.”

What do YOU think? Is FBI Director James Comey a hero or villain? Sound off in today’s WND poll

Shortly after the Comey letter was reported, sources within the FBI revealed that the newly discovered emails were found on a device belonging to Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her estranged husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y.

Gohmert said that is significant.

“If it’s true what we’re told that Weiner had emails that were for Huma Abedin, if any of those are classified, then Huma broke the law by allowing her husband – even though they’re married – to have access to those emails,” Gohmert explained.

Listen to the WND/Radio America interview with Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas:

WND VIDEO: Have to go to the WND article to listen to Gohmert.

He said that arrangement also made both Weiner and Abedin ripe for blackmail.

“One of the reasons it’s so important for our high officials to be above reproach is the fact that, because Weiner was doing all this sexting, that kind of thing could have made him vulnerable to blackmail,” Gohmert said.

He said the impending Weiner-Abedin divorce could have put Abedin at the same risk.

“If he has emails that Huma should not have let him see, then she could be a target for blackmail,” Gohmert said. “If Hillary were elected, then Huma would be the closest confidante to the president of the United States but very vulnerable to blackmail.”

Gohmert is also struck by the Clinton team demanding the FBI reveal everything it has since this revelation comes so close to Election Day.

“It takes an awful lot of gall to say, in effect, ‘I thought I destroyed all of those emails. I demand to know what emails you have found because I thought I destroyed them all.’ Basically, it’s a bit of an admission of obstruction of justice,” Gohmert said.

The congressman is disappointed the Clinton investigation did not broaden into a probe of Clinton Foundation activities and how they influenced Clinton’s decisions at the State Department.

“For heaven’s sake, when you’re allowing the sale of our uranium and it ends up going to Russia and our enemies, that’s pretty amazing,” Gohmert said. “None of that seemed to pique the interest. Some of us sure think it sounded like there may have been crimes involved. [It] certainly merited having a grand jury impaneled and at least [having] them look into these things.”

Sign the precedent-setting petition supporting Trump’s call for an independent prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton!

According to reports, the FBI did aggressively push for permission to investigate the Clinton Foundation, but it was forbidden from proceeding by the Justice Department. Gohmert said that proves nothing will happen to Hillary Clinton while Loretta Lynch runs the Justice Department.

“As long as she’s there, Hillary Clinton will never be prosecuted,” Gohmert said. “The only chance there is that Hillary Clinton may eventually have to answer for some of the things she’s done is if Donald Trump is elected.”

He continued, “We have got to clean out the cesspool. It stinks to high heaven.”

While the Clinton campaign demands to see what emails the FBI has and simultaneously insists they are nothing of consequence, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is taking the Comey criticism to a new level.

In a letter, Reid is accusing Comey of violating the Hatch Act by sending his letter so close to the election. What’s more, Reid accused Comey of sitting on “explosive” evidence of Trump’s ties to the Russian government.

“In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisers, and the Russian government – a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity. The public has a right to know this information,” wrote Reid.

Gohmert minced few words about Reid. First, the congressman contends Comey may have violated the Hatch Act if he didn’t send the letter updating member of Congress on the probe.

“I think it would be a potential violation of the Hatch Act to use his position to prevent Americans from knowing the substantial change, the new evidence that has been found,” he said.

As for Reid himself, Gohmert said the Nevada Democrat’s reputation is already worthless.

“For lying Harry Reid, the guy that said (2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt) Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years, it turned out Reid had no basis. He just totally lied. He still says he is so proud he went and lied about Romney because it helped [President Obama] win the election,” Gohmert said.

“That tells us that Harry Reid is a guy who is so unscrupulous, so immoral that I don’t really much care what allegations he makes.”

While he does encourage a quick report on these new findings, Gohmert is pleading with the FBI to do a thorough job examining the new emails and not feel that it has to make a conclusion to meet a political deadline.

“The FBI needs to get their reputation back, and the only way to do that is to handle this more professionally,” he said.

FBI’s James Comey Seeks Redemption With New Clinton Probe

is-humpty-hillary-falling

This article professes reopened Crooked Hillary out of guilty conscience. It also tells us that Attorney General Loretta Lynch excoriated Comey. Lynch’s displeasure probably signals the current Leftist-in-Chief Obama exploded at her. If all this is true, I have a suspicion Comey will be fired by Obama before any further FBI action moves forward that may indeed also finger the Obama Administration.

FBI’s James Comey Seeks Redemption With New Clinton Probe

Despite laying out a clear case that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been “extremely careless” with classified information on a private email server, FBI Director James Comey has appeared to be a rock, never budging in his decision to not recommend an indictment of Clinton.

However, according to author Ed Klein, Comey has been suffering from the wounds he has since come to realize he inflicted on his agency.

In a column for the Daily Mail, Klein portrayed Comey’s decision to inform Congress about the new phase of the FBI’s investigation into the Democratic presidential candidate as his chance at professional redemption. Friday, Comey told Congress the investigation was reopened due to newly discovered evidence. That evidence has since been revealed to be 650,000 emails found on the computer of disgraced ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Klein said that the July announcement that Clinton would not be indicted proved to be a watershed moment for Comey.

“The atmosphere at the FBI has been toxic ever since Jim announced last July that he wouldn’t recommend an indictment against Hillary,” Klein wrote, quoting a source close to Comey.

“Some people, including department heads, stopped talking to Jim, and even ignored his greetings when they passed him in the hall,” Klein quoted the source as saying. “They felt that he betrayed them and brought disgrace on the bureau by letting Hillary off with a slap on the wrist.”

As Comey defended the FBI in public, in private he was dealing with agents who were quitting the agency due to the results of the Clinton probe.

“He’s been ignoring the resignation letters in the hope that he could find a way of remedying the situation,” said the source, saying that Comey “jumped at the excuse to reopen the investigation.”

“He talks about the damage that he’s done to himself and the institution (the FBI), and how he’s been shunned by the men and women who he admires and work for him. It’s taken a tremendous toll on him,” Klein quoted the source as saying. “It shattered his ego. He looks like he’s aged 10 years in the past four months.”

Comey went against the will of Attorney General Loretta Lynch in sharing with Congress the fact that the Clinton probe was alive once again.

The Washington Post reported Saturday that Comey, who had told Lynch of his plan to tell Congress about the Clinton probe — was told by her aides “that we don’t comment on an ongoing investigation. And we don’t take steps that will be viewed as influencing an election.”

The Post reported, according to a Justice Department official it did not name, Comey fully understood what he was doing.

“Director Comey understood our position. He heard it from Justice leadership,” the official said. “It was conveyed to the FBI, and Comey made an independent decision to alert the Hill. He is operating independently of the Justice Department. And he knows it.”

New Clinton emails found during Anthony Weiner sexting probe

By Daniel HalperJamie Schram and Bob Fredericks

October 28, 2016 3:30pm Updated October 29, 2016 | 2:18am

New York Post

Anthony Weiner’s lurid communications from his latest sex scandal prompted the FBI to reopen its probe into Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail server — a bombshell development that rocked the presidential race Friday.

FBI Director James Comey told members of Congress in a letter that “in connection with an unrelated case, the FBI learned of the existence of e-mails that appear to be pertinent’’ to his probe.

A law-enforcement source told The Post the e-mails came from an electronic device seized from Weiner and his wife, top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, as part of the federal investigation of Weiner’s sext messages to a 15-year-old girl.

The feds confiscated four devices from the two, including a laptop Weiner used to send sleazy messages to the teenager.

They also found e-mails that Abedin either sent or received on the laptop they shared. The lead investigator in that case reported them to Comey.

Hillary Clinton blasted the release by Comey, claiming that nothing new would be found and he should be more forthcoming about the probe.

“The American people deserve to get the full and complete facts immediately,” Clinton said. “We don’t know the facts, which is why we’re calling on the FBI to release all the information it has.”

A senior law-enforcement official told NBC that the FBI director’s letter was sent to lawmakers “out of an abundance of caution.”

In a separate letter to FBI employees, Comey said “we don’t ordinarily tell Congress about ongoing investigations, but here I feel an obligation.”

He added: “Given that we don’t know the significance of this newly discovered collection of e-mails, I don’t want to create a misleading impression.”

Comey said that because months ago he had announced that the investigation was complete, he wanted to “supplement the record.”

The feds have not read the e-mails in question because the warrant they got for their seizure covered only Weiner’s messages.

They have to get a new warrant to read Abedin’s e-mails, NBC reported.

Abedin split from the disgraced ex-congressman in August after The Post revealed that he had sent lewd messages to the girl.

Comey said the latest e-mails — which were not sent by Clinton, according to CNN — would be checked to determine if they contained classified information.

“I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work,” Comey added, 11 days before the presidential election.

NBC News reported that many if not all of the e-mails may be duplicates of messages the feds already have access to.

Clinton learned of the startling development while flying to a campaign stop in Iowa.

She spent about 25 minutes on board after her jet landed in Cedar Rapids before emerging and then ignored questions shouted by reporters.

But her campaign chair, John Podesta, issued a blistering statement condemning Comey for reopening the probe so close to Election Day.

“It is extraordinary that we would see something like this just 11 days out from a presidential election,” Podesta fumed.

“The director owes it to the American people to immediately provide the full details of what he is now examining. We are confident this will not produce any conclusions different from the one the FBI reached in July” when Comey decided to not pursue criminal charges against Clinton.

Democratic leaders were stunned. “Good grief,” tweeted Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile.

Donald Trump applauded the FBI’s move, saying the political system “might not be as rigged as I thought,” during a campaign stop in Manchester, NH.

“I think they are going to right the ship, folks. Perhaps, finally justice will be served,” he said.

“Hillary Clinton’s corruption is on a scale we have never seen before,” added Trump, who has repeatedly hammered Clinton over her private e-mail server. “We must not let her take her criminal scheme into the Oval Office.”

Trump and many GOP lawmakers had earlier bashed Comey, accusing the FBI chief of letting Clinton off the hook.

The director was also taking heat from his own agents who disagreed with his decision not to prosecute Clinton, sources said.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Clinton has to accept blame.

“Yet again, Hillary Clinton has nobody but herself to blame. She was entrusted with some of our nation’s most important secrets, and she betrayed that trust by carelessly mishandling highly classified information,” he said.

Clinton had been gaining ground in public polls following the release of footage showing Trump talking about groping women, and many analysts said his odds of winning the White House were plunging.

Analysts said the reopening of the e-mail probe was a gift to the GOP nominee.

“The damage has been done,” said Democratic strategist Jim Manley, a former top aide to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

“House Republicans and/or the Trump campaign aren’t going to let it go for the next 10 days.”

The feds began to investigate Weiner, 52, after he sent a slew of sexual messages and shirtless selfies — including one showing him on a bed with his toddler son — to the teen.

Congressional Republicans put out the word Friday that the FBI is reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state. This shocking development comes just eleven days before the general election. FBI Director James Comey announced the news in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee this morning.

“In previous congressional testimony, I referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton’s personal email server. Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony,” Comey wrote.

“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation. I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation,” he added.

“Although the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work, I believe it is important to update your Committees about our efforts in light of my previous testimony,” Comey concluded.

Jason Chaffetz, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, immediately tweeted that the case has been reopened:

UPDATE: Several media outlets are now reporting that the FBI was led to the discovery of the new Clinton Email scandal evidence through the investigation into disgraced New York politician Anthony Weiner!

The FBI has reopened its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server while secretary of state after discovering new emails – apparently during the probe of former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s sexting – in a stunning turn of events just days before the presidential election

An FBI source, though, confirmed to Fox News that the new emails were discovered after the bureau seized devices belonging to disgraced Rep. Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin, a top Clinton aide who recently announced she was separating from the former congressman. The New York Times first reported on the Weiner investigation connection, noting the FBI had been probing texts Weiner sent to a 15-year-old girl.
