Islamic Jihadists Kill Christian Pastor; Begin a Deadly New Year for Christians in Nigeria

Pastor Lawan Andimi

I stumbled upon an ACLJ email dated 2/1/20 that submitted a number of petitions to sign to forward the cause of Christian faith in legal matters. The petition that caught my eye was a condemnation of Islamic terrorists Boko Haram executing Pastor Lawan Andimi by beheading. WHY? For the Islamic crime of not bowing to Islamic Supremacy.

This is the classic example of the reason I will NEVER trust an adherent of Islam.

In full disclosure, ACLJ sends out these petitions largely as a device of donation revenue. The ACLJ is a worthy cause. In my case, I signed the petition to voice my disapproval of Islamic persecution of Christians but did not donate money. You do as your conscience and human spirit leads you.

Islamic Jihadists Kill Christian Pastor; Begin a Deadly New Year for Christians in Nigeria

By CeCe Heil

1/27/20

ACLJ Petition

2020 is already proving to be a deadly year for innocent Christians in Nigeria.

Boko Haram – the Nigerian jihadist militia pledged to ISIS – just beheaded a Christian Pastor who weeks ago was shown in a hostage video telling the world: “Don’t cry. Don’t worry. But thank God for everything.”

As reported in the New York Times, Pastor Lawan Andimi was executed by Boko Haram and his hometown attacked:

Islamic militants in Nigeria have killed a Christian pastor who had pleaded for his life in a video just days earlier, and a human rights activist said Tuesday that other extremists attacked his hometown on the same day.

The Rev. Lawan Andimi was abducted earlier this month when Boko Haram militants attacked the Michika local government area, where he was the chairman of a local chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria. He was killed on Monday.

Anyone who has seen the video knows that Rev. Andimi did not plead for his life. In fact, he was calm, and even appeared to be at peace, trusting in God and stating:

By the grace of God, I will be together with my wife, my children, and my colleagues. [But] if the opportunity has not been granted, maybe it is the will of God . . . I have never been discouraged because all conditions that one finds himself in is in the hands of God.

The unshakable faith of this pastor should be humbling to every Christian. The fact that he was executed by Islamic radicals because of his faith should infuriate every human being.

In the same week, another group of jihadists reportedly murdered two Christian teenage girls.

[Muslim Fulani] herdsmen on motorbikes rode into Gora-Gan village in Zango Kataf County at about 5 p.m. shooting villagers on sight, according to a local resident. Luka Biniyat, spokesman for the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), confirmed the killing of Briget Philip, 18, and Priscilla David, 19.

Other young Christians were injured in the attack, including a 12-year-old.

The evil of these jihadists seems to know no limit. According to the New York Times, the Islamic State has even used or forced children to execute Christians:

On Friday, the Islamic State’s West Africa Province, known as ISWAP, released a video which showed a hooded child with pistol in hand execute a Christian man.

In the case of Rev. Andimi, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari tweeted:

I am greatly saddened by the fact that the terrorists went on to kill him even while giving signals of a willingness to set him free by releasing him to third parties. This barbarism is condemnable. We will ensure that these terrorists pay a heavy price for their evil actions. — Muhammadu Buhari (@MBuhari) January 21, 2020

However in every instance of violence, the Nigerian government has seemed unable or worse, unwilling to do anything about it. The body count continues to rise, and Christians live in constant fear.

This deadly injustice has to stop. Nigerian Islamic terrorists are waging a horrific campaign of mass atrocities against people in their own country simply because they are Christians. And those they don’t kill they take hostage and even enslave.

We’ve gone to the United Nations through our European office, the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ), demanding international intervention for Christian teen Leah Sharibu, one of over 100 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram at gunpoint almost two years ago.

Boko Haram is holding the innocent young Christian prisoner because she refuses to convert to Islam. The sinister group threatened to kill or enslave her. Until recently, we weren’t even sure if Leah was still alive. Thankfully the Nigerian government  confirmed that she is, but she still desperately needs help.

We submitted a written submission to the U.N. Human Rights Council warning that the violence is boiling over into other regions, and asking for immediate action to stop the bloodshed and persecution before it’s too late:

It is imperative that the U.N. take swift action and work with the government of Nigeria to ensure that Leah and all others who remain captured are returned home safely and to put an end to the atrocities being carried out in Nigeria by Boko Haram and the Fulani Herdsmen. No one should have to live under the fear of being abducted, enslaved, or killed.

Action must be taken to not only stop the spread of violence within Nigeria but also the spread of violence in west Africa. Boko Haram has in fact already begun carrying out attacks in neighbouring Chad and Cameroon.

If nothing is done to stop these violent radicals and hold them accountable for their atrocities, the outlook for Christians in Nigeria, and across Africa, looks bleak. We cannot let these Islamic militias hunt Christians into extinction.

As we stated in our submission:

The U.N. Charter calls on the U.N. to remove threats to peace, and the Genocide Convention calls on the U.N. to prevent acts of genocide, not merely to respond to them. We have seen in Iraq and Syria what happens when the U.N. fails to take preventive measures when it is clear that mass atrocities are being carried out against a particular group of people. This is only the beginning, if meaningful action is not taken now the problem in Nigeria will worsen.

We ask every ACLJ member to pray for the family of Pastor Lawan, and for Leah Sharibu, that she is finally liberated from her evil captors, as well as for her family as they endure this nightmare.

We have a moral obligation to fight for our Christian brothers and sisters. All Christians have a right to live and worship in peace. We will continue to work at the U.N. and with world leaders until the violence is not only stopped, but action is taken to bring the extremist perpetrators to justice and prevent the bloodshed from ever happening again.

Hillary’s Foolish Policies Carry Deadly Consequences

Justin Smith connects the actions of then Secretary of State (Crooked) Hillary Clinton to some of the worst decisions affecting American National Security. Most nefarious for me are links to the Islamic Terrorists Muslim Brotherhood and Boko Haram.

Hillary’s Foolish Policies Carry Deadly Consequences

Keep Fools Out of National Security

By Justin O. Smith

Sent 10/1/2016 1:30 PM

” … a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. Even when fools walk along the way, they lack wisdom and show everyone that they are fools.” Ecclesiastes 10:1-3

Hillary Clinton does not inspire confidence in most Americans, when she speaks of combating terrorism, the likes of which the American people recently witnessed over the past few weeks in Minnesota, New Jersey and New York, that left dozens of people seriously wounded. Her policies will be a continuation of the same weak, ineffectual, ineffective, cowardly, idiotic and treasonous policies of Obama and his band of Leftist fools, who have created this environment that is amenable to terrorism. And despite her assurances that she has a “comprehensive plan” to combat terrorism, she offers only a mirage and everything else other than a genuine and concerted effort to defeat the Islamic jihadi terrorists that now freely roam the streets of America.

On a daily basis, Hillary makes it quite clear that she cares more about Muslims’ sensitivities than American lives, especially when she remarks (last November): “Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.”

Shortly after the terrorist attacks on September 17th and 18th, White House press secretary Josh Earnest declared, “We are in a narrative battle … We can’t play into this narrative that somehow the United States is fighting Islam.”

Then who are all these terrorists screaming “Allahu Akbar” as they detonate bombs in Boston and New York — who have tortured, raped, imprisoned, murdered and burned alive millions of victims worldwide?

The enemy is Islam and devout Muslims following the violent ideology that is central to Islam, mandated by their “prophet” Mohammed, which is a supremacist ideology of permanent conflict and conquest that denies the legitimacy of any other belief system. Exponents of this ideology are Islamic states such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, groups like the Islamic State and Al Qaeda and self-starting Islamofascist terror cells found in any country with a sizable Muslim immigrant population, including America.

Why should America keep flirting with death by terrorism by keep our doors open to Muslims?!?? So many have hidden within our society as “peaceful and tolerant” Muslims, until they committed their heinous acts of terror against our homeland.

There exists more than enough Muslims in America, Europe and the Middle East, who adhere to the violent commands of Mohammed in the Koran and the Hadith (Verses of the Sword), clamoring for the destruction of the United States to warrant an immediate ban on all Muslim immigration. Now that we also witness an increasing number of second and third generation U.S. Muslims and Muslim immigrants with permanent residence visas mounting attacks against America, our counter-terrorism experts in the FBI and intelligence groups must have their hands untied to go after the Islamic mosque leaders who preach hatred of the Western world and America.

Americans could never expect this sort of strong action from the Obama administration — the administration that ordered a cleansing of training materials and law enforcement manuals that were deemed offensive in 2011 by the Islamic Society of North America and the Council on American Islamic Relations. This is treasonous, once one understands the large number of terrorist ties found within these groups. Hillary, who was part of Obama’s policy failure that allowed the growth of Islamic terrorist groups globally, is highly unlikely to diverge too far from this idiotic and treasonous path.

One should also note that Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, supported the terrorist organization of the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the Middle East and the United States; she refused to designate Boko Haram as a foreign terror organization, which allowed it time to become entrenched in Nigeria and expand, murdering over 20,000 people and displacing two million. She is also in agreement with Obama’s feckless and foolish Iran Nuclear Deal, which simply guarantees that Iran will become a dangerous and nuclear armed foe in the Middle East.

Eroding confidence in this administration even further, one must wonder if a Hillary Clinton progressive Secretary of Homeland Security will perform any better than Jeh Johnson. It recently came to light in the aftermath of the September attacks, that 858 illegal aliens from “special interest countries”, known to commit immigration fraud and export terrorism, were “mistakenly” given U.S. citizenship. Discrepancies between their names and birth dates weren’t caught because their fingerprints were missing from the DHS database, according to an internal audit released on September 19th.

Hillary will have many of this same band of Leftist fools in her administration, who promised a “robust” vetting of all immigrants. Their miserable failures to date demand their replacement with real security experts, capable of protecting America, and Heaven forbid we offend the sensibilities of Muslims, while Americans lie dying in our streets by their hands.

The Washington Times (David Boyer) quoted Donald Trump on the series of terrorist attacks: (These attacks) “should be a wake-up call for every American … The safety and security of the homeland must be the overriding objective of our leaders when it comes to our immigration policy … that’s why I’ve proposed extreme vetting for immigrants from troubled parts of the world where terrorists live and train, and (I) oppose Hillary Clinton’s 550 percent increase in the number of refugees from the conflict in Syria.”

According to David Inserra, a homeland security specialist at the Heritage Foundation, before the September 17th attacks, the United States was the target of eighty-nine Islamofascist terror plots and attacks since 9/11 and twenty-five since January of 2015.

Whether here in America or abroad, every U.S. administration from this day forward must have leaders willing to defeat Islamic terrorism by hunting down the terrorists and killing them, wherever we find them. Any presidential candidate unwilling to vigorously advance this policy does not belong in the White House: Terror can only be broken by terror.

America cannot trust Hillary Clinton, who lacks noble courage and knowledge, to protect our freedom and our people against the tyranny of Islam, or any enemy, with the world drowning in chaos due to her policies as Secretary of State. She still proposes to flood America with Muslim “refugees”, whose ranks are certain to be filled with Islamic jihadi terrorists sworn to kill Americans in the name of the “prophet” Mohammed. Her progressive passive appeasement of Muslims and her practice of placing her interests and Democratic Party interests over U.S. interests, along with her willingness to lie to the American people — witnessed through her false claims about Benghazi, enabled the Islamic State’s growth and its ability to reach inside the U.S., with ruinous and deadly consequences.

And, when the “three o’clock in the morning phone call” came in from Benghazi, Hillary CHOSE to abandon Americans to thirteen hours of combat and their deaths: Hillary Clinton is unfit to be the Commander-in-Chief.

Martyrs for Christ and The Butchers of Islam

Martyrs' Blood is Church's Seed

I found a copy of the classic book entitled Fox’s Book of Martyrs on the website Christian Classics Ethereal Library (CCEL). The author John Fox was born in England in 1517. He died on April 18, 1587. The edition at CCEL begins with Nero’s persecuting of Christians circa 67 AD and culminates in the 1820’s with the mission efforts of an American Adoniram Judson. Obviously John Fox could not write past 1587 so the later editions were added by others.

The earliest days of Christianity prior to Constantine the Great essentially making the faith the State religion of the Roman Empire in the early 300s AD. It was perfectly legal to persecute Christians in some of the vilest ways prior to State protection. Guess where the state sanctions vile persecutions are going in the 21st century? Let me help your guess. It is a state that absolutely no other nation in the global community of nations recognize as a sovereign state. That unrecognized nation calls itself the Islamic State as well as claiming to Sunni Muslims to be a Caliphate.

The Islamic purists in Nigeria call themselves Boko Haram and they control wide swaths of northern Nigeria. Al Shabaab’s persecution has been as brutal as the Islamic State and Boko Haram but have not been as militarily successful on their home stomping grounds in Somalia.

Justin Smith eruditely addresses this Islamic persecution of Christians in the 21st century.

Martyrs for Christ and The Butchers of Islam

By Justin O. Smith

Sent: 4/11/2015 2:43 PM

Christians, Jews and other religious minorities, such as Yazidis, Turkmen and Shabak, are currently being systematically exterminated across the Middle East and North Africa, especially in Iraq and Syria. As the Islamic State, Boko Haram and Al Shabaab repeatedly boast of horrific attacks on these religious minorities, the Christians and other victims are far less concerned with meaningless “Religious Freedom Acts” signed by Obama (Aug 2014), than they are with simply surviving; they need righteous world leaders, who will fight the evil marching towards every nation worldwide – the evil of the oppressive, totalitarian ideology of Islam.

On April 2nd, 2015, the international community witnessed 147 Christian students at Garissa University in Kenya singled out and murdered by Al Shabaab Islamofascist terrorists. And then on Easter Sunday, Islamic State fascist thugs destroyed the Church of the Virgin Mary in northeastern Syria, marking the latest in a long series of attacks against Christians during this decade.

Statistics from numerous sources, like Open Doors and PEW Research Center, show that Christians, who once represented 20% of the Middle East’s population have been reduced to 5% of the population in the Middle East. It is also safe to say that nearly three million Christians, in both Iraq and Syria, now number less than a combined total of 300,000, as they have fled or been slaughtered.

In January 2015, forty-five Christian churches were burned in Niamey, Niger alone, and two thousand people were murdered in the town of Baga, Nigeria, which was burned to the ground (BBC). According to Open Borders, an organization dedicated to “serving persecuted Christians worldwide”, roughly 3.2 million residents in Nigeria have left their homes, since the rise of the Islamic terror army of Boko Haram. For the same reason, thousands of Christians are evacuating Diffa, the border region between Niger and Nigeria, and seeking refuge at the military camps at Zinder.

Whenever Boko Haram, Al Shabaab and the Islamic State occupy an area, a common and terrible theme emerges, as they demand that the people identify themselves as Muslim or Christian, Allahu Akbar or Alleluia. A great number of these Christians truly live their faith, and they refuse to deny Jesus in order to save themselves. They die as martyrs for Christ.

In January of this year, David Curry, president of Open Doors USA, reported that 2014 was the most violent year of global Christian persecution. Curry also released the World Watch List, which named North Korea, Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iran, Pakistan, Eritrea and Nigeria the nations that are most hostile towards Christians. The overwhelming common thread in nine of these is the Islamic ideology.

Since July 2014, the Islamic State has demanded Iraq’s Christians must convert to Islam, pay extra taxes or be killed. The Islamic State has massacred and enslaved thousands of Christians and followers of the ancient Yazidi faith, murdered hundreds more from the Shabak religious minority, ransacked the tomb of Jonah in Mosul, destroyed a 7th Century Greek Orthodox Church in Tikrit, bombed a memorial of the Armenian genocide in Dair Alzour, Syria and beheaded 21 Coptic Christians in Libya.

These Islamic savages surpass the Nazis and Communists in their depravity. Islamofascist “soldiers” teach Muslim boys how to slice off the heads of the kafir, the infidels, the Christians and the enemies of Allah. They bury people alive and butcher little children. They have delivered hundreds of girls and women as sex-slaves and unwilling “brides”, torturing and raping them, as reported by the International Center for Investigative Reporting.

Representative Anna Eshoo (D-CA) is personally troubled by these atrocities. She is a first generation American and a Chaldean Catholic, whose mother is Armenian and whose father is an Assyrian Christian from Iraq. She recently told the ‘Washington Examiner’:

“We’re coming up to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide and when we look over our shoulders at history, we say ‘never again, we will never forget.’ So from both sides of the family, exactly what my grandmother described and all the elders of the family escaped is [again] taking place.”

Terrorized Christians and religious minorities unable to reach safety have been begging for help from anyone, and while some U.S. leaders have expressed the dire need to help them, so far, the vaunted international community has not acted forcefully enough to stop these Islamofascists from annihilating Christians and others. Their efforts have been small and futile, providing insufficient aid, as this new Holocaust is continuing to grow.

Kaldo Oghanna, an Assyrian Christian who helped train fellow Christians to combat these Islamic terrorists, told the Wall Street Journal, “No one has protected the minorities, and no one will in the future.” [See Also World Religion News]

Some experts, such as Paul Salem of the Middle East Institute, have called for “hard protections” and “safe zones” for people without the ability to protect themselves. Although $1.6 billion from the U.S. National defense Authorization Act has been allocated to aid Christians, ethnic minorities and their “local forces” in the Nineveh Plain and surrounding regions, this is far from fully addressing the broader scope of the problem, as the progeny of terrorists continue to ply the family trade across the globe.

How much longer will the world leaders continue to look the other way? When will the U.S. and Europe and the world’s Christian nations do something substantial and concrete to defend and protect our Christian brothers and sisters, who are persecuted, exiled and slain solely for being Christian?

On Veteran’s Day of 2011 at the Preserving Freedom Conference in Madison, TN,  Dr. Justin Akujieze revealed that the entire northern half of Nigeria had already been, in essence, conquered by the Islamists, as they have unilaterally declared Sharia Law without comment, debate or media discussion. At the same time, Muslims were committing genocide against the Christian Igbo tribes of Nigeria by burning them alive by the thousands, and these Islamofascists are now moving to control the entire country. As Dr. Justin appealed to those in the audience for their help in saving the rest of Nigeria from this Islamofascist onslaught, the emotion in his voice rang true, “Today is the last day and we must not wither. We must confront this head-on and together we will win.”

The Butchers of Islam have created a global crisis. They are an existential threat to families, human rights and religious communities in the United States and Europe too, not just in the Middle East and Africa, and as such, America and any other rightfully concerned nations must wage a relentless, vicious, intense war against them and brutally obliterate them wherever they are found: Destroy the destroyers of everything righteous, those lovers of Death, or continue doing next to nothing and watch Christianity in many regions become a footnote in history.

Sharia: The Unifying Ideology Among Modern Terror Groups

Keep Sharia out U.S.

Brigitte Gabriel writes about Islam being a common dominator among Islamic terrorist groups AND that our American government (under the management of the Obama Administration) is failing to educate the American public about the radicalness inherent in Islam’s Sharia Law.

Sharia: The Unifying Ideology Among Modern Terror Groups

By Brigitte Gabriel

Sent from Act For America

Boko Haram and the Islamic State. Lashkar Taibi. Al-Shabab.

We hear these names all the time used synonymously with terrorism. Commentators and political pundits try to draw them into distinct boxes by geography or by their ethnicity.

But in actuality there is a deep connection among all these groups and their barbaric practices — an ideology that is at the very heart of the danger facing Western civilization, and that we are working every day to stop.

We’ve all known about the horrors of ISIS — an English acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. In recent months the group has grown beyond the last two letters of its title. The Islamic State is now active in Libya and is expanding its influence rapidly.

In India, Lashkar Taibi is actively working to bring about the fall of the Indian Republic, destroy Hinduism and Judaism, and see the disputed areas of Kashmir and Jammu made part of Pakistan, which would then itself become part of a larger pan-Islamic state.

In the Horn of Africa, Al-Shabab continues to fight to gain a foothold for sharia in the power vacuum that has existed since the early 1990s. And in Nigeria, Boko Haram kidnaps schoolgirls, murders Christians and Jews, and grinds those under its rule into ever-deeper misery and oppression.

The ideology that bonds all these groups together is a strict adherence to sharia law — the all-encompassing legal code of Islam, as practiced during the early days of the original empire that grew from Mohammad’s conquest of the Arabian Peninsula.

Most if not all of these groups talk about the desire to establish sharia rule in their lands. Much of the horror we see on the evening news from the Islamic State comes from their dedication to apply their 7th century views on everything from slavery to women’s rights to every aspect of life.

People unfortunate enough to find themselves under sharia rule find themselves in a place with little to no freedoms at all. Virtually every aspect of their lives is dictated by the omnipresent religious rules. Women are held as little more than property. They can be beaten and in many cases killed with impunity.

Girls have no chance at an education. Indeed, Boko Haram’s very name means “Western education is forbidden.”

In the lands of sharia, those who dare to profess a faith other than Islam are, under the best of circumstances, treated as second-class citizens, and more often than not rounded up for persecution or murder.

Just last year in Mosul, Islamic State fighters went house-to-house, finding Christians and marking their houses with an Arabic character — an abbreviation for “nasrani,” a pejorative term rooted in the word Nazarene. The choice given to those non-Muslims was simple: convert, pay a fine, or face “death by the sword.”

And as in so many other countries ruled by jihadis, the only thing more prevalent than efforts to kill and displace Jews is the perpetual stream of threats against Israel.

What our national security leaders have at best failed to teach the public — or at worst failed to realize themselves — is that these groups are not composed of lunatics, or any group of “lone wolves” that have congregated together in common madness.

These horrors are not the actions of a few malcontents in need of jobs or social programs. Graeme Wood put it very well in his story in this month’s Atlantic:

“The reality is that the Islamic State is Islamic. Very Islamic. Yes, it has attracted psychopaths and adventure seekers, drawn largely from the disaffected populations of the Middle East and Europe. But the religion preached by its most ardent followers derives from coherent and even learned interpretations of Islam.”

Rather than the irrational acts of madmen, the beheadings, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks around the world are the end result of a long-developed reading of Islam and what it requires of its followers.

Under their ideology, the only permissible form of government is that of a theocracy, specifically a revived caliphate, ruled by one man who will follow the will of Allah to rule the entire world.

It is this ideology – that sharia is the only acceptable law, and those who will not accept its rule must be destroyed – that we fight against. Jihadis know no color, they know no national borders, and they cannot be placed into neat boxes.

They only know that those who refuse to accept the rule of their caliph must die.

This is what we’re fighting against. A handful of people can change the world, for good or ill. It’s up to each of us to sound the alarm and be agents for change, to defend the country that we love against this great threat.

Brigitte Gabriel

War on the Cross

It happened this past June in Wuxi Village. According to the Associated Press, the government hired a crew to cut down the metal cross atop the Wuxi Christian Church in Zhejiang Province (just south of Shanghai on China’s east coast). The day after they sawed it down, a church member welded the cross back in place and was brought in for hours of questioning. A week later, down came the cross a second time only to be put back by another church member.

Christianity and Democracy

by Reverend Richard John Neuhaus

A Statement of the Institute on Religion and Democracy

Jesus Christ is Lord. That is the first and final assertion Christians make about all of reality, including politics. Believers now assert by faith what one day will be manifest to the sight of all: every earthly sovereignty is subordinate to the sovereignty of Jesus Christ.

The Church is the community of believers who bear witness to that claim. Because the Church is pledged to the Kingdom proclaimed by Jesus, it must maintain a critical distance from all the kingdoms of the world, whether actual or proposed. Christians betray their Lord if, in theory or practice, they equate the Kingdom of God with any political, social, or economic order of this passing time. At best, such orders permit the proclamation of the Gospel of the Kingdom and approximate, in small part, the freedom, peace and justice for which we hope. At worst, such orders attempt to suppress the good news of the Kingdom and oppress human beings who are the object of divine love and promise.

The First Political Task of the Church

The first political task of the Church is to be the Church. That is, Christians must proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel to all people, embracing them in a sustaining community of faith and discipline under the Lordship of Christ. In obedience to this biblical mandate, Christians have a special care for all who are in need, especially the poor, the oppressed, the despised and the marginal. The Church is called to be a community of diversity, including people of every race, nation, class, and political viewpoint. As a universal community, the Church witnesses to the limits of the national and ideological loyalties that divide mankind. Communal allegiance to Christ and his Kingdom is the indispensable check upon pretensions of the modern state. Because Christ is Lord, Caesar is not Lord. By humbling all secular claims to sovereignty, the Church makes its most important political contribution by being, fully and unapologetically, the Church.

While our first allegiance is to the community of faith and its mission in the world, Christians do not withdraws from participation in other communities. To the contrary, we are called to be leaven and light in movements of cultural, and economic change. History is the arena in which Christians exercise their discipleship. Because our hope is eternal and transcendent, Christians can participate in society without despair or delusion. We do not despair of the meaning of history, nor do we delude ourselves that our efforts are to be equated with establishing the Kingdom of God. The fulfillment of history’s travail is the promised Rule of God, not the establishment of our human programs and designs.

Towards an Open Church

God has given us no one pattern for the ordering of societies or of the world. For almost two millennia Christians have pursued their mission within a variety of social, political, and economic systems. Among Christians today, as in times past, there are significant disagreements about the most appropriate and effective ways to advance freedom, justice, and peace in the world. That Christians are to pursue these goals should be beyond dispute. Disagreements about how they are to be pursued need be neither surprising nor destructive. In making political decisions, we are all subject to error. Through prayer, we decide in the courage of our uncertainties. We strive to credit the intelligence and good intentions of those who decide differently. Especially within the believing community we must, in the words of Reinhold Niebuhr, avoid portraying our conflicts as a war between “the children of light and the children of darkness.” Our unity in Christ is greater than whatever may divide us.

Within our several churches, disagreement about the meaning of social justice should not merely be tolerated; it should be cherished. We are pledged to the goal that our churches be open churches. An open church engages sympathetically the diversity of Christian views both within and outside denominational structures. An open church welcomes dissent on contingent judgments about the right-ordering of society; this strengthens the search for truth and helps correct error. An open church makes decisions in the light of day, not in the shadowed corners of bureaucratic power. An open church has leaders eager to engage in the fullest consultation with all its members. An open church addresses social issues not so much to advance a particular position as to inform and empower people to make their own decisions responsibly. An open church understands that the Church speaks most effectively when the people who are the Church do the speaking, and leaders speak more believably when they speak with the informed consent of those whom they would lead.

Sometimes leaders can and should disagree with the views of the majority. To disagree, however, is not to disregard the views of others. Leadership in an open church is marked by READ THE REST

The Institute on Religion & Democracy – Who We Are

Welcome to the website for the Institute on Religion & Democracy. We are a watchdog of the religious and evangelical left, disputing their claims to represent millions of church members when espousing a liberal or far-left political agenda. We believe the Church should be the Church, proclaiming the Gospel, discipling believers, assisting the needy, and teaching broad principles for a better society without becoming narrowly political. Our unity as Christians is based on our faith in Jesus Christ, not positions on secular legislation.

IRD is especially committed to reforming the social witness of the churches. In 1981, IRD was founded by concerned United Methodists and other Christians distressed that denominational and ecumenical officials were openly supporting Marxist causes and opposing democracy and human rights.

We continue to monitor and report on similar egregious political shenanigans. Many church elites, often claiming to speak on our behalf, lobby for abortion rights, homosexual rights, big government, extreme environmentalism, pacifism, and anti-Americanism. IRD strives to be a voice for church members whom church bureaucrats would prefer to ignore. We connect church members with renewal groups who believe in biblical and historic Christianity. And we teach them how to work for change in their denominations—with a focus on the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), and the Anglican Communion.

The IRD also has a strong commitment to international religious liberty. If the churches will not defend international religious freedom and will not speak on behalf of persecuted Christians and others around the world, then who will? Too often, church elites in the U.S. are silent about Marxist, Islamist, or other repression of religion and human rights, in favor of dialogue and accommodation. IRD believes Christians and their church leaders should be bold on behalf of those persecuted believers who cannot speak from behind their prison walls.

MSA Misleads – Professor Eisenstein Litigates

John R. Houk

Associated Professor Maurice Eisenstein of the Political Science department at Purdue University noticed that a group of radical Muslims from Nigeria calling themselves Boko Haram (Warning: Link that tells what Radical Islamic Boko Haram is has a video showing just how evil these Muslims are by ritually beheading a Christian Nigerian) slaughtered some fellow Nigerians merely because they were Christians. Eisenstein objected to murder in the name of Islam as taught to do to non-Muslims by Islam’s founder Mohammed. Eisenstein objected in the public forum of Facebook.

A Muslim gal at Purdue commented on Eisenstein’s Facebook page that she was the equivalent of disgusted for insulting Mo the prophet. Evidently because the Muslim gal has tons of Muslim friends on Facebook, Eisenstein’s excellent though not politically correct call went viral among Muslim students at Purdue. And surprise-surprise, the Muslim Student Association (MSA) organized a fire Eisenstein movement on the Purdue campus. Here is a snapshot of the Facebook entry made by Eisenstein courtesy of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

Eisenstein Facebook Snapshot (Full Size)

Maurice Eisensten Facebook Controversy

In a FrontPageMag.com interview between Eisenstein and Jamie Glazov, Eisenstein said this:

“The entire attack on my free speech began over a post I made to Facebook in November 2011.  I posted a picture with a storyline about an Islamist Muslim group (Boko Haram) killing Christians in Nigeria.  I asked: Where were the moderate Muslims? They must be listening to that idiot Mohammad.

From this, one of my PUC colleagues, a Muslim, told me (on Facebook) that she believed my statement about Mohammad was beyond despicable.  Once she responded to me, then several of her students were able come to my Facebook page to tell me that they also believed that I was out-of-bounds for denigrating Mohammad.  Their essential issue was that I was offending Mohammed and Islam.  In the wake of that incident, the Muslim Student Association became involved and they did a press release saying that no prophet (Jesus, Moses, Mohammad — their argument not mine) should be insulted because offending a religion was not an acceptable use of freedom of speech.

Basically, this whole ordeal started because I insulted Mohammad.  I did insult Mohammad.  I may not have been nice about it, I may have been provocative about it, but quite frankly, I think killing Christians because they are Christian and not Muslim is much more insulting than calling Mohammad an idiot.

From this incident, there emerged an active campaign from the Muslim faculty and students, the Muslim Student Association (acting, as it claimed, on behalf of all Muslims), and their leftist supporters, active collusion to get the University to fire me for offending them.  Because the University could not fire me for Facebook comments, the faculty, students, and the MSA decided that it would then say that I was harassing and discriminating against students in my classroom.  Toward that end, audio tapes of one of my courses from Spring 2011 were then posted on YouTube. It was an Introduction to Judaism course, which I taught from a pro-Jewish and pro-Israel perspective.  Two of the books I used in the course were: Why the Jews? by Praeger and Telushkin as well as The Israel Test by George Gilder.  Anyway, I am very provocative and blunt — I like challenging students, particularly since most of what is taught on campus (irrespective of the discipline) comes from a center left perspective.

Now, there are over 40 to 45 hours of lectures from that class.  Out of those 40 to 45 hours, about 16 minutes were posted on YouTube and, of course, these 16 minutes were selectively edited so that I was portrayed in the worst possible light and without context.  Then, based on these tapes, in conjunction with my Facebook comments, 9 separate harassment and discrimination complaints were filed against me.” (Read Entire Interview)

Eventually the Muslim Student Association is a direct offshoot of the Salafist/Radical Muslim group known as the Muslim Brotherhood. That means the MSA as does the Muslim Brotherhood believes that Christians that refuse to submit to Islamic Supremacism must die. Since MSA is an American group, they will not come outright and say the Mohammed principle of the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) must choose between converting to Islam, submitting to the authority of the rules of Sharia-Dhimmitude or die. That would be a public relations disaster for them in America. So the MSA as do many Muslim-American groups that have roots in the Muslim Brotherhood or Saudi Wahhabism obfuscate their beliefs in America to produce the view that Islam is just another religion deserving Religious Freedom.

ACT for America is exposing the nefarious nature of the MSA in sharing about Eisenstein’s effort to sue Purdue for infringing on his Free Speech rights because Purdue considered the possibility of punishment for Eisenstein writing the obvious truth on his Facebook page.

The ACT for America email alert begins with harassment Eisenstein received then finishes the email with a Fox News report.

Professor files free speech lawsuit

Sent by ACT for America

When should free speech be limited?

According to the Muslim Students Association (MSA), apparently when it hears speech it deems “anti-Muslim.”

According to the Fox News story below (highlights added), a Purdue University professor who made comments on his Facebook page about Muslims was investigated after complaints by the MSA and other faculty.

The professor then filed a lawsuit alleging the investigation violated his free speech rights.

One of the faculty members expressed concern for the Saudi students on campus. She went so far as to argue that the “anti-Muslim” comments were comparable to yelling fire in a crowded theater. The implication is that the comments put Muslim students in danger and should be prohibited.

Someone needs to remind this professor who complained that we’re not living in Saudi Arabia, where speech deemed offensive to Muslims is prohibited and can put a non-Muslim in serious jeopardy. We still have free speech protections here, whether that speech is offensive to Muslims, Jews or Christians.

Professor sues Purdue after probe of his anti-Muslim Facebook comments

Purdue University Professor Maurice Eisenstein says the school’s investigation – which cleared him – still violated his free speech rights.

A Purdue University professor has filed a freedom of speech suit against his school and five co-workers after getting in hot water for inflammatory statements about Muslims on his Facebook page.

Tenured political science professor Maurice Eisenstein was cleared by a university investigation into his Facebook comments, which included a reference to “the idiot Mohammad [sic}, may his name be cursed.” But Eisenstein claims the investigation nonetheless damaged his reputation and disputes a finding that he retaliated against other faculty members.

“I was trying to be challenging as a professor, and do what I was trained to do,” Eistenstein, who joined the school’s faculty in 1993, told FoxNews.com.

The flap unfolded late last year, when Eisenstein posted a photo of the aftermath of a massacre of Nigerian Christians, purportedly carried out by African Muslims, on his Facebook page.

“Where are the ‘moderate’ Muslims’ reaction to this? Oh, I forgot they are still looking at the earth as flat …,” Eisenstein wrote above the post.

Other members of the faculty, as well as members of the Muslim Student Association, learned of the comments and went to school officials. Eisenstein maintained that the post was on his personal page and in no way reflected on the school. History professor Miriam Joyce, who later filed a harassment complaint against Eisenstein, told FoxNews.com the comments could alienate students.

“We have Saudi students,” Joyce said. “We have other Muslim students. This is wrong. It creates an unpleasant and unwelcoming atmosphere. “I’m concerned that Muslim students and their parents will get the wrong idea about my school.”

The Muslim Student Association could not be reached for comment.

The school’s investigation, led by Chancelor Thomas Keon, cleared Eisenstein in January of violating the college’s free-speech and anti-harassment rules. However, he received a written reprimand for allegedly retaliating against Joyce, as well as a second professor, Saul Lerner.

Eisenstein denied retaliating or harassing his colleagues, but acknowledged a bitter e-mail exchange with Lerner and denies making a callous reference to Joyce’s son, a former hedge fund manager who committed suicide.

Eisenstein said his freedom-of-speech suit is the result of the university’s investigation into his comments about Muslims – even though the probe ostensibly cleared him.

“When you investigate free speech, you chill free speech,” Eisenstein said. “How am I supposed to do my job without free speech. I’ve changed. Every time I go into a classroom, I look around and wonder who will complain about what I say.”

Eisenstein enlisted the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) in bringing his suit against the Big Ten school.

“This is not the first time and it won’t be the last time we will see a university punish a student or professor for constitutionally protected speech on Facebook,” said FIRE President Greg Lukianoff. “Professors at public universities should not have to go to court to defend their free speech rights.”

Joyce said freedom of speech shouldn’t permit a professor at a public school to gratuitously denigrate the beliefs of others, including students at the school.

“I’m all for free speech. I want it for me and I want it for everyone else, but there’s got to be some judgment used,” Joyce said. “You don’t cry fire if there isn’t a fire and then say it was protected by free speech.

“I’m a [history] teacher,” she added. “I’d rather be dealing with Bahrain than Eisenstein, anyway.”
